Finally flagging down a bartender, I kindly gesture for a paper and pen, which is handed to me. As I write my drink order, the bartender takes someone else’s order.

Is this right? Courteous?

Angry Deaf Man is back. Not writing in months is good news. He hasn’t been angry lately. However finding this disappointing comment on his blog, he is angry.

Well if Evolution was in play in today’s world as it should be, it should be survival of the fittest, meaning that if you’re deaf you should have been eaten by a lion that you couldn’t hear coming at an early age and then we wouldn’t have to pretend that we care. If God wanted you to be able to use the phone, communicate with the rest of the world, then you’d be able to hear like the rest of us. I’m sick of rude deaf people who get pissed at the world and treat hearing people like shit, this is reverse discrimination. I have never mistreated a deaf person but why would a hearing person that knows no sign language want to talk to someone who makes gestures and retarded noises? Speaking directly to the hearing friend only makes sense, the hearing person you’re trying to communicate is uncomfortable with you and doesn’t care unless they have to because of their job and they have no choice. In my opinion, you should have been hit by a bus you couldn’t hear coming a long time ago, you are an Evolutionary blip, a mistake, an unfit set of characteristics that are supposed to be ELIMINATED by Evolution and survival of the fittest. Kiss my ass!

The commenter is obviously a dumbass. Wait until he gets old. Sick. Wait until he has children, or knows someone who does, that isn’t “the fittest”. Be careful of what you say; things have a way of coming back.

The commenter doesn’t think. We have eyes we use to avoid a bus–most likely driven by a dumbass hearing person who isn’t paying attention. Hearing people have ears and eyes and they still get hit?! Talk about a mistake!

Hearing a lion wouldn’t have helped either. Outrunning a lion is, for anyone, a little tad difficult to do. For the commenter only, I’d be willing to put you up against a lion in a race. I won’t say whether the lion is well-fed or hungry.

It happened again

I drove up to a parking attendant prior to entering a parking lot. I had a hearing passenger. When the parking attendant showed that she wasn’t particularly expressive with her hands, I directed her to speak with my hearing passenger. I did not want to hold up the line into the parking lot. It’s OK when I choose to direct the hearing person to another person.

But here’s the mistake the parking attendant made. When she tore out a parking stub, she handed it to the hearing person! I was closer to her, the parking attendant, yet she felt she ought give it to the passenger. Like I wouldn’t know what to do with it.

Pardon me. I can drive, and sure as hell can take parking stubs. Thank you very much.

Deaf people are not ghosts

I hate it when… if I’m with someone, and I go up to, say, a store counter, and try to communicate with the clerk standing on the other side of the counter. Familiar with the scenario? Happens all the time, right? Well, because I’m deaf, the clerk is caught off-guard. Understandably.

Here’s the killer: because I’m with someone else, the clerk will almost automatically look to the other person blankly and ask if he or she can speak. I wouldn’t normally give a shit, but it never happens when I’m traveling overseas. I’m regarded and respected as a person.

Should I slam American hearing people’s closed-mindedness? Looks like I should. Do you have a similar experience both here at home and away?

I may not speak English, but I fucking know I can open or close my window on an airplane. This young girl tells me as I partially close my window that I’m able to close it shut. What nerve! It’s my window and I’ll do what I please with it! No instructions needed! You’re the one who needs instructions: deaf doesn’t equal stupid. Shove it.

Earlier, I said to educate ignorant hearing people, you had to start when they were young, fresh and ripe. This young girl missed the ship. Too late. Can’t teach old dogs new tricks. Might as well start chiseling her tombstone. She’s a goner to me. Hopelessly ignorant.

Seating zones

How hard is it to put up electronic signage near terminal gates notifying passengers of the seating zone being announced? Why hasn’t this been installed decades before? I should have been seeing those signs since I started flying as an angry deaf boy. And to think with the advancements of late (LEDs), these signs are rarely found in US airports. And the banger? People who can hear, ignorant or not, will appreciate those signs.

Airlines have been equipping their magnificent flying machines with the most advanced of technologies, televisons included–yet they cannot, or do not want to, caption their in-flight movies.

If they choose to deny the ability for me to enjoy the flight as others, then I should pay LESS.

Hurry the fuck up, federal government, my government, screw them the airlines for being so greedy, unfair and selfish. Their arrogance is penetrable only by you, the government. Get on it already, dickwads!

I drive better than you. As a driver, I never have been in a car collision in my entire driving career. Get that past your fucking thick head. And get this: my driver’s education textbook said statiscally deaf people have better driving records. Yeah eat this too. Deaf people have been driving (legally) long before you were born! It is us who should be teaching you how to fucking drive, fucking idiots. First lesson? Eyes on the road!

I hate it when people think we are automatically stupid because we cannot speak. Foreign language speakers, though they cannot speak English, are treated with more respect, simply because they 1) produce sounds that construe a language 2) have the ability to learn to speak English.

American Sign Language isn’t a language to them because it is not spoken, no matter how hard we try to convince them. It’s built in their ignorant human conscious. So fuck them all, they’re damaged goods. Start when they’re young, fresh and ripe!
